City Workers Mistaken For Impostors in Davis
The City warned that two men posing as city workers could be scoping out homes to burglarize, however, it was discovered they were legit.

DAVIS, CA- Davis Police Department received a report that two men in orange safety vests with the City of Davis printed on them spoke with a resident in the 2100 block of Alameda Ave on May 3. It was reported that the men claimed to be at the home to repair the sprinkler timers and that one of the men asked about dogs on the premises. The Davis Police Department took the opportunity to remind community that there have been instances in the past where suspects pose as utility workers to commit various crimes such as residential burglaries and copper thefts. However, this was not the case in this incident afterall.

Upon further investigation, it has been determined that the two men described in Tuesdays report were legitimate workers but, had responded to the wrong address.
The Davis Police Department would like to remind community members that City of Davis employees carry identification cards and should present them upon request. If those claiming to be City of Davis employees are unable to produce an identification card, the resident can call their associated department to verify the work to be performed at their residence. In addition, the police department can also be called to verify their identity.
