Classes Teach Dogs How to Avoid Rattlesnakes While Hiking

Dogs are reportedly 20 times more likely to be bitten by venomous snakes than humans.

YOLO COUNTY, CA- It’s rattlesnake season and local dog trainers want to help keep your pet safe, offering classes beginning this weekend.

Wildlife experts report that rattlesnakes are emerging from hibernation earlier this year because food supplies were boosted by winter storms, says the SacBee, and dogs are 20 times more likely than humans to be bitten by a venomous snake and 25 times more likely to die from a bite they report.

Two organizations will host upcoming dog training events on how to avoid snakes in the greater Sacramento area over the next two weeks.
