Cold Fire Near Lake Berryessa Grows to 4,000 Acres

A fire burning near Lake Berryessa grew to 4,000 acres Wednesday morning.

Yolo County, CA -- A fire burning near Lake Berryessa grew to 4,000 acres Wednesday morning.

The Cold Fire, west of Winters, started around4:30 p.m. Tuesday. As of Wednesday morning, the fire remained 5 percent contained, according to Cal Fire officials.

About 700 people, 86 fire engines, eight helicopters, six air tankers, five water tenders and nine bulldozers were called to battle the blaze, officials said.

The fire prompted the evacuation of Canyon Creek Resort and Golden Bear Estates.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
