The Solano County coroner’s office has identified a driver who died in a solo vehicle crash on Interstate Highway 80 near Dixon early this morning as David Vaughn, 29, of Davis.
Vaughn was driving a Chevrolet west on Highway 80 toward the connector ramp to northbound state Highway 113 at a high rate of speed around 12:40 a.m. when he drifted off the paved road and the driver’s side of the vehicle struck a tree, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Vaughn was wearing a seatbelt and the driver’s airbag deployed but the impact caused fatal injuries, according to the CHP.

Vaughn was pronounced dead at 1:17 a.m., according to the coroner’s office.
