DAVIS, CA — A 27-year-old Davis man was arrested this week on suspicion of false imprisonment and sexually battering a woman, officials with the Davis Police Department said.

According to police, the victim and witnesses gave statements, saying Tabatabaifar, after he became acquainted with the victim, agreed to meet the woman and her friend at the friend's apartment July 26 for the purpose of going out as a group to the local bar scene.

Both women physically fought back, forcing Tabatabaifar off the victim at which point she escaped to a nearby room and locked the door while Tabatabaifar left the apartment, police said.

Davis police officers were called to the scene and initiated the investigation that led to Tabatabaifar's arrest Wednesday.

Tabatabaifar was no longer in custody Friday night, according to a sheriff's employee who answered the phone at Yolo County Jail. Further information about when he was released was not immediately available over the phone.
