DAVIS, CA — The Davis Police Department planned to unveil its newly constructed Fallen Officer Memorial in a special event Friday that fell on the one-year anniversary of the death of Davis Police Officer Natalie Corona.

Corona was shot and killed Jan. 10, 2019, in the line of duty. The 22-year-old officer was responding to a car crash at 5th and D streets when a gunman, later identified by police as Kevin Limbaugh, rode up on a bicycle and opened fire. Corona was rushed to UC Davis Medical Center but did not survive.

Corona was described as a "rising star" in the Davis Police Department, where she began working as a part-time employee in 2016. She went on to attend the Sacramento Police Academy and graduated in 2018.
