Davis Voters Gave About Four Times More Money to Obama than to Romney

Davis voters have given about four times more money to President Barack Obama than to Republican nominee Mitt Romney, according to data from the Federal Elections Commission.

These most recent numbers—which run from April 1, 2011 through July 31, 2012—show Obama supporters in Davis have given approximately $286,000, while Romney supporters have given about $74,000.

Obama received 58 donations of more than $1,000 from Davisites, while Romney received 16 contributions of that size.

The contribution data mirrors the large disparity in voter registration among Davisites: Nearly 21,000 of Davis's 38,415 voters are registered Democrats, according to the latest statistics from the Yolo County Elections Office, while fewer than 6,000 are registered Republicans. (The remainder, a sizeable 11,000 or so, are minor-party supporters or registered decline-to-state.)
