Forbes 400: California Dominates List of Billionaires
The 2015 list has just been released. Silicon Valley Tech Titans populate the top, but other industries created super wealth.
If America is the Land of Opportunity, California is its capital, hogging 92 spots on this year’s Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans.
The biggest fortunes were made in the tech industry. Oracle founder Larry Ellison continues to be the richest Californian, coming in at number three on the list behind Bill Gates and Warren Buffett.
Mark Zuckerberg cracked the Top 10 for the first time, thanks to the surging price of Facebook stock, up 25 percent since last year.

The richest woman in California remains Steve Jobs’ widow Laurene Powell Jobs.

In addition to tech, California fortunes were made in the entertainment industry, real estate development, construction and securities.
