Hacker Shuts Down GoDaddy.com

The Davis Enterprise, Winters Express email systems affected by Internet hacking

Hackers shut down GoDaddy.com, - and web sites hosted by the service - for several hours on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

A hacker called “Anonymous Own3r” posted on Twitter that he is responsible for the attack on GoDaddy.

GoDaddy.com is the world’s largest domain name registrar and Web hosting provider, managing more than 53 million domain names, according to the company’s web site.

The Associated Press reported that the outage began shortly after 1 p.m. EDT. GoDaddy.com and the sites it hosts were operational again by 5:50 p.m., according to AP.

The Davis Enterprise and Winters Express informed readers Monday afternoon that their email systems were down due to Internet hacking.

“Emails sent to us since this morning may not be accessible to us until further notice,” The Enterprise posted on its Facebook page. “It’s been off and on all day.”
