NO: 'Gifted And Talented Education' YES: 'Alternative Instructional Model'

The School Board voted unanimously to change the name of the GATE program Thursday night from the Gifted And Talented Education program to the Alternative Instruction Model. 

They also unanimously voted to extend the current master plan until a new one is developed to replace it. That will come after staff does some research into what could make the program better. 

Jeff Hudson wrote a detailed story in the Enterprise in which he notes that trustees Nancy Peterson and Gina Daleiden characterize the current GATE Advisory Committee as “dysfunctional” in its present form. You should read it.
