The Business and Economic Development Commission will recommend the City honor an individual, organization, or local business operating within the City of Davis for extraordinary contributions to their industry and the community.
They "may recommend that City Council grant up to two awards in the following categories: individual, business or organization contributions to business and economic development; and extended excellence in local economic development. The deadline to submit is Monday, November 26 at 5 p.m.

The awards were established to honor and highlight outstanding local businesses, organizations, or individuals who have made significant contributions to the City’s business and economic development climate. Designed as a community-based award, the council encourages input from community members to assist with the nomination process. These annual awards are a great way to showcase the achievements of local business leaders and bring them to the attention of the greater Davis community.

Past Winners Include:
- 2011 - Blue Oak Energy was recognized for their Business Contributions to Local Economic Development, and Carbahal & Company was recognized for its Extended Excellence in Local Economic Development.
- 2010 - Doug Arnold and David Taormino of Coldwell Banker Doug Arnold Real Estate, Inc. were each recognized for their Individual Contributions to Local Economic Development and Nugget Markets was recognized for its Extended Excellence in Local Economic Development
- 2009 - Reed Youmans received the Individual Contribution Award, Davis Farmers Market received the Business Contribution Award and Hibbert Lumber received the Extended Excellence Award
- 2008 - Janis Lott received the Individual Excellence Award, Schilling Robotics received the Business Contribution Award and Chuck Roe received the Extended Excellence Award
- 2007 - Pam Marrone received the first Business and Economic Development Award
The Commission will review public suggestions for potential nominations for contributions made within the past year and/or for extended excellence, to recognize lifetime business contributions. Candidates will be judged based on their innovations and achievements in their respective field or industry as well as theirSixth Annual City of Davis Business and Economic Development Award – Nomination Period Opens dedication to the community.
