On 08-24-2012, CHP held a DUI/Driver License Checkpoint on South River Road at County Road 117.  During the enforcement, from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM, CHP officers contacted 117 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint.  Of the 117 vehicles that were checked, 11 of the drivers under went a DUI evaluation that resulted in only one arrest.  Six of the drivers that entered the checkpoint were driving while either suspended or unlicensed to drive in California.  This resulted in three vehicles being impound at the checkpoint.

This checkpoint is another example of the CHP reaching its goal of ensuring the safe passage of each and every motorist on roads where there is a high frequency of intoxicated or unlicensed drivers.  A sobriety/driver license checkpoint is a proven effective tool for achieving this goal and is designed to augment existing patrol operation.
