Sexual Assault Near Downtown Davis: If You Know Anything, Call Police
"The attacker smashed the woman's cell phone to prevent her from calling for help," according to the Aggie. It happened near Fourth and J Streets around 11:50 last Thursday night.

A 20-year-old woman was sexually assaulted near Fourth and J Streets last Thursday night, according to the Davis Police Department. It happened around 11:50 p.m.
KCRAÂ reported that a woman had been "raped" on a Downtown Davis sidewalk. We asked police about the KCRA report, to which they told us, "the conclusions that were drawn by the news are their own conclusions. We released the terminology 'sexually assaulted' and that is the information that we would like to convey."

"She was grabbed from behind by a male subject and sexually assaulted," said the department in a statement. "The male suspect was last seen running eastbound on Fourth St. At this point in time, the only description provided is that the suspect was male. Investigative leads are being pursued."Â
According to the Aggie, "the attacker smashed the woman’s cell phone to prevent her from calling for help. At the time, the attacker wasn’t wielding a weapon or wearing a mask."

The Davis Police Department is urging anyone who was in the area and may have seen a suspicious person to call the Davis Police Department at 530-747-5400.
