Solano County Man Accused In Davis Home-Invasion Robbery

The 33-year-old suspect was booked into Yolo County jail, police said.

DAVIS, CA — A Fairfield man is accused of committing a home-invasion robbery Friday morning in Davis. Police said John Ferinand Scharff, 33, was caught not long after officers responded to the victim's house in the 1500 block of Drake Drive.

The female victim told police that when she got home at 10:30 a.m. and went inside, she heard noises coming from one of her upstairs bedrooms.

A man then came downstairs and told her he had a gun, although she did not see a gun and the suspect did not display it, police said.

The suspect then left the house and ran to an adjacent parking lot, where he dropped a bag containing jewelry, computers and other items taken from inside the victim's residence, according to police.

Officers were able to apprehend Scharff after a brief foot chase and area search.

Scharff was booked into the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of home-invasion charges, police said.
