UC Davis Student Identified In Fatal Napa County Crash
The 25-year-old international student was the passenger in a BMW whose driver lost control on a Highway 121 curve.

NORTH BAY, CA — The Napa County Sheriff's Office has identified a passenger who was killed early Wednesday morning in a solo-vehicle crash in unincorporated Napa County east of Yountville as Shang En Tsai, 25, a student at University of California at Davis. Tsai was a passenger in a 2015 BMW driven by Weibo Zhou, 23, of Davis, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The BMW was traveling south on state Highway 121/Monticello Road north of Waters Road around 1 a.m. when Zhou lost control of the car on several sharp curves and stuck two trees on the side of the road, according to the CHP.
The BMW overturned and landed on its roof. Tsai was pronounced dead at the scene by the Napa County Fire department, while Zhou suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in
Napa.

Investigators do not know if the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, which is still under investigation, CHP Officer Marc Renspurger said this afternoon.

Tsai has been in the U.S. since 2010. His family in Taiwan were notified of the death and they are en route to Napa County, sheriff's Capt. Steve Blower said.
