Alameda County Announces COVID-19 Grants For Dublin Small Businesses

One-time grants of $5,000 are available to home-based businesses and $10,000 is available to brick-and-mortar businesses.

DUBLIN, CA — Dublin small businesses are eligible for grant money to help them offset losses suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors announced in a news release yesterday.

The application period for the grants, totaling $11 million, with $1 million specifically set aside for businesses located in the unincorporated areas of the county, opened Monday, Oct. 10.

The money for the grants comes from American Rescue Plan funds.

One-time grants of $5,000 are available to home-based businesses and $10,000 is available to brick-and-mortar businesses. Priority will be given to businesses in "community resilience" priority ZIP codes and qualified census tracks.

To qualify for a grant, businesses must have not already received American Rescue Plan Act funds from the county and have one to 25 employees, be licensed for-profit entity in the county and have experienced decreased revenue or increased costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the county said.

According to the news release, not every business that applies is guaranteed help and a lottery will be used to choose recipients should the amount of money requested exceed available funding.

Those who are accepted for the grant will receive payment by check from Alameda County no later than Dec. 30, and businesses that need help with the application, including translation services should contact their local chamber of commerce.
