Bay Area Rapper Lil Yase Shot And Killed In Dublin

Lil Yase, a 26-year-old up-and-coming rapper, was shot repeatedly near the Dublin-Pleasanton BART Station​ Saturday.

DUBLIN, CA — Bay Area rapper Lil Yase was shot near the Dublin-Pleasanton BART Station Saturday and died a short time later at the hospital, according to police. His killer remains at large.

Dublin Police on Sunday identified the 26-year-old up-and-coming rapper as the victim of the early morning shooting. Yase, whose real name was Alexander Mark Antonyyo Jr., was shot repeatedly by an unknown assailant, according to police.

Police said they believe the shooting occurred in the 5100 block of Iron Horse Parkway, about a block north of the East Dublin BART parking structure. Evidence was collected from that scene, but as of Sunday evening, no suspects had been identified.

Antonyyo Jr. was brought to ValleyCare Medical Center in Pleasanton at about 1 a.m. Saturday, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. From there, he was taken by ambulance from ValleyCare to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley, where he died from his injuries, Dublin police Capt. Nate Schmidt said in a news release.

Highway 420 Productions, Antonnyo Jr.'s label, paid tribute to the young rapper on Instagram.

"We appreciate all the love and support. Yase loved his fans, he worked every day for y'all. We have hundreds of songs coming for you," the label posted along with a Lil Yase track called "Top Dog."

According to ABC7, this was the second homicide in Dublin this year and just the third since 2009.
