CHP Graduates Eight Senior Volunteers
Volunteers will assist officers at community events and safety presentations, and instruct traffic safety classes among many other classes.

From CHP: On Wednesday July 12, 2017, The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Dublin Area graduated eight new Senior Volunteers who attended a two day Senior Volunteer Academy. The objectives of the CHP’s Senior Volunteer Program are to provide enhanced public service to the community, provide an opportunity for citizens to make a definitive contribution toward improving public safety and service, and instill an understanding and appreciation of the justice system, human relations, and ethics in the field of law enforcement. The new volunteers will assist officers at community events and safety presentations, instruct traffic safety classes, deploy radar trailers, transport equipment, conduct speeding and distracted driving surveys, and participate in ride-a- longs. Volunteers will also assist with filing, data entry, answering phones and greeting citizens when they come into the office.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Commander Sherry welcomed guests and introduced CHP Citizens’ Advisory Board Member Tanya Thomas who provided congratulatory remarks to the graduates. The senior volunteers were sworn in by Commander Sherry who issued the following statement: “These Senior Volunteers will assist the CHP is accomplishing its mission of providing the highest level of safety, service, and security to the public. Senior volunteer efforts free up both uniformed and non-uniformed members of the Department to concentrate on their core duties. We are excited to work with this diverse group of caring citizens to save lives, improve departmental efficiency, and build public trust. ”
The new Senior Volunters are: Gail Stan, Scott Waite, Bernard Thompson, Peter Lee, James Donahoe, Michael Dybis, Donald Hertzler, and Fred Badal.
