In June, Kaiser Permanente joined the White House for its National Month of Action sprint to vaccinate 70% of adults in the United States against COVID-19 with at least one shot by July 4. By launching several programs and incentives to encourage individuals to get vaccinated, Kaiser Permanente is aiming to increase confidence in the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine and providing easy access to receive it.

Kaiser Permanente’s initiatives include $10 million in community grants to 100 community-based organizations across the country to continue to promote vaccine confidence messages and engage organizations such as faith leaders, school officials, and other trusted community messengers. This funding is in addition to its prior investment of $25 million in nearly 200 community-based organizations to increase vaccine access and build confidence in high-risk populations.

In northern California Kaiser Permanente is implementing vaccine equity plans and grantmaking strategies focused on priority ZIP codes and populations, as well as partnering with faith-based leaders in the East Bay and Fresno to boost vaccine confidence in faith communities. Kaiser Permanente Northern California also invested nearly $2 million to support 19 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). The grants will improve their capacity to administer vaccines. An additional $1.2 million went to the Latino Community Foundation to produce vaccination campaigns for Latinx communities and to re-grant funds to provide vaccination outreach.
