Dublin To Create Community Emergency Response Team

DUBLIN, CA — The city of Dublin is launching a Community Emergency Response Team to aid after a disaster.

Residents can sign up here to receive free training on basic disaster response skills that will allow residents to help neighbors and community members should disaster strike, the city said in a news release. The Alameda County Fire Department will be coordinating the program.

Participants will learn skills such as emergency preparation, medical operations, fire safety, search and rescue, disaster psychology and team organization, according to the city.

All adults and 14- to 17-year-olds with parent permission can participate in the 20-hour virtual course, which can be completed between April 9 and June 11.

At a later date, hands-on skills will be taught to participants in-person.

The class size is limited, but any waitlisted residents can participate in the future.
