More Dublin Businesses Reopen; County Moves Into Yellow Tier
Bars, indoor music venues among those that saw restrictions loosened. The move came a week before the dissolution of the tier system.

DUBLIN, CA — More Dublin businesses saw restrictions loosen Wednesday after Alameda County moved into the least-strict tier of California's economic reopening system.
"The increasing number of residents who are fully vaccinated is directly reducing case rates and helping Alameda County to move into the yellow tier ahead of the June 15 transition," Alameda County Health Officer Dr. Nicholas Moss said in a statement.
Businesses can now operate at the following levels in Dublin and across Alameda County.

- Bars at 25 percent capacity or 50 percent capacity if customers show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
- Indoor music venues at 50 percent capacity.
- Outdoor performance venues at two-thirds capacity.
- Saunas and steam rooms at 50 percent capacity.
- Bowling alleys, arcades and other family entertainment centers at 50 percent capacity or 75 percent capacity with proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test.
- Gyms at 50 percent capacity.
The move comes a week before the state plans to axe the four-tiered, color-coded system that has assigned counties a COVID-19 risk level and dictated how businesses in those counties may reopen. The Blueprint for a Safer Economy will be eliminated June 15 as COVID-19 test positivity and case rates have plummeted in recent weeks and more than seven in 10 Californians have received at least one vaccine dose.
A state of emergency will remain in place since the coronavirus is "not taking the summer months off."

Napa County also moved into the yellow tier Wednesday, meaning eight of the greater Bay Area's 11 counties are now in the least restrictive tier. Solano, Sonoma and Contra Costa counties remain in the slightly more restrictive orange tier.
"While we are moving away from the tier system, only 53 percent of Alameda County residents are fully vaccinated and COVID-19 is still a very real threat to unvaccinated individuals," Moss said. "We urge all residents to continue using COVID-19 safety precautions to protect vulnerable residents including young children who are not yet eligible for vaccine."
All California residents age 12 and up are eligible to receive a coronavirus vaccine and are encouraged to contact their local health department or visit https://myturn.ca.gov for information about local vaccination sites.
