Dublin High Softball Team Victimized; Community Support Needed

Days ago, equipment belonging to the Dublin High softball team was vandalized and stolen. Now, the team needs help replacing the items.

DUBLIN, CA -- The Dublin High School softball team was the victim of vandalism and theft last weekend and needs a little community support to recover from it.

As a varsity player strolled to the field mid-morning Sunday to practice hitting, she discovered
the team’s storage shed wide open. Nearby, the team golf cart was found on its side, with four punctured wheels and seat detached, leaving it undriveable.

Upon seeing all this, the player called Sarah Machado, the team's third year Varsity head coach, and the police were notified. After the Dublin Police Department responded to the scene, it was found that the vandals broke into the team's equipment shed and that some items were taken, including the team’s brand new $160 audio speaker.

The damages are not minor to the Lady Gaels, who worked hard to fundraise for this season.

“The girls worked very hard to fundraise, and that is the most frustrating part,” Machado explained.

The golf cart, now severely damaged, took two years to fundraise for. The team has raised some money, but with a new Junior Varsity team added to the program this season, funds have been stretched far. Machado said that the Lady Gaels were looking forward to new uniforms, which might not be a possibility anymore.

The latest theft came just days after the school's baseball team had two $900 windscreens stolen.

Machado said that the Dublin Police Department currently has no leads, but anyone with information regarding this incident, can contact the Dublin Police at (925) 833-6670 and reference case number D19-01223.

The Lady Gaels Softball program is also accepting donations to help it recover from the thefts and vandalism. Anyone seeking to give can do so at https://www.fanangel.com/campa...
