"He donated hundreds, if not thousands of bowling games through Rotary via our fundraisers along with our Student of the Month, Quarter and Year Recognitions. He was in Rotary for over 25 years and constantly gave back to the community. Our children had their birthday parties at his business and have loved bowling in both the Jr. Strikers Leagues for years as well as participated in numerous tournaments. We have attended various fundraisers there including the Chamber and DPIE/DIIA events and the last three Oakland A's Community Fund Bowling Bash Events. He was just a beloved member of our community with a warm smile and a friendly demeanor and will truly be missed by many."

Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hanke said Hoffman was a stalwart supporter of the local schools.

"Ted Hoffman was a great community partner to Dublin schools for many years," Superintendent Dr. Stephen Hanke said in a statement. "His work with Dublin Partners in Education and his tireless support of students will not be forgotten. We are incredibly lucky to have had Ted as a friend and advocate for our schools. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed."

Others just expressed sadness at Hoffman's death.

"I'm so sorry to hear about Ted's passing," Dublin School Board President Dan Cunningham said. "He was a great contributor to our community in general and our schools in particular. I remember my boys enjoying the free bowling during the summers when they were in elementary and middle school. Dublin was a better place to live because of Ted. He will be greatly missed."

KPIX 5 reporter Juliette Goodrich remembered Hoffman and his wife as giving.

"I am so sorry to hear about beloved Ted's passing," Goodrich said. "He always had the warmest smile and biggest heart. He and his lovely wife have been such giving community members to many charitable organizers over the years. The DPIE celebrity waiter event was always livened up by Ted and his group of friends from Earl Anthony's Dublin Bowl. He was such a big supporter of Dublin schools. You will be missed, Ted. My deepest condolences to his wife and family."
