Dublin St. Patrick’s Day 2018: Shenanigans, Shamrocks And Storms

Didn't make it out to celebrate? We have photos and video. See anyone you recognize?

DUBLIN, CA — Despite the wild weather, thousands of people from all over the East Bay turned out to celebrate the City of Dublin's 35th annual St. Patrick's Day festivities last weekend. Everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick's Day, especially in Dublin!

On Friday night, the annual Green and White gala, hosted by the Dublin Sister Cities Association, kicked off the weekend celebrations. The Alameda County Fire Department hosted a pancake breakfast early Saturday morning. Proceeds from the breakfast benefitted the Alameda County Firefighters Association-Local 55 Charity Fund, which supports local non-profit and community-based organizations.

The sun came out Saturday just in time for the popular St. Patrick’s Day Parade hosted by the Dublin Lion’s Club. Spectators lined the streets of Dublin to watch the parade chock-full of local dignitaries and familiar community members. More than 8o entries, including community groups, businesses, schools and local dignitaries participated. The parade is one of the largest in the Bay Area.

The weather changed about an hour after the parade ended. A mix of rain, hail and sun kept things lively in Tri-Valley but did not deter those intent on celebrating St. Paddy’s Day. Revelers visited St. Patrick's Day Festival, which was held on Saturday and Sunday in the Civic Center Plaza. Festival-goers enjoyed music, food, beer, vendors and a carnival.
