Dublin Students Collect Food & Toys For Those In Need
Students at Dublin schools collected over 250 pounds of food and more than 50 toys for people in need.

DUBLIN, CA ? Two Dublin teens led an effort to collect over 250 pounds of food and more than 50 toys for people in need. Thanks to a corporate donation match, Emerald High School freshman Sriram Kannan and Dublin High School sophomore Adi Jain were able to contribute a total value of $1800. Their friends Avika Vyawahare, Smiti Shankar, and Svara Wani from Fallon Middle School and Supriti Shankar and Srisha Kannan from Amador Elementary School helped with the collections.
This marks the fourth year that the duo have participated in collecting food and toys around the holidays. With their team, they printed 300 flyers asking for donations, spread the word through social media, and then picked up donations from around 300 houses around the Positano neighborhood of Dublin. They then donated toys to Toys for Tots, and dropped off food donations to the Tri-Valley Haven Food Pantry.
?We found out that over 39% of Californians faced food insecurity, we knew we had to do something about it,? the two said in a statement. ?Over four years ago, we did something about it. We conducted our first-ever food drive in our neighborhood with great success. We kept doing food and toys annually ever since to help disadvantaged members in our community.?
