Dublin's New All-Abilities Playground Sculpture Needs Your Vote
Help select inspirational words to be forever embedded in concrete at the newly renamed Dublin Sports Grounds All-Abilities Playground.

DUBLIN, CA — A local playground is getting some upgrades and the community is invited to have its say. A sculpture from internationally renowned artist Barbara Grygutis, entitled Conversation, will be placed at the newly renamed Dublin Sports Grounds All-Abilities Playground.
The city of Dublin is asking residents to help select inspirational words that will be embedded into a concrete walkway at the playground as part of Grygutis' work. The words are meant to convey Dublin's diversity and the importance of opening a conversation with people of all abilities and backgrounds.
The city has been working for months to turn the playground into an “all-abilities” space for all children. The $1.4 million rehab is slated to be unveiled this summer and will feature an all-abilities playground and picnic area; upgraded landscape and parking facilities; as well as pathways to improve accessibility and connectivity to other park features, such as sports fields and a new ADA compliant restroom facility.

The upgrades will help promote healthy development of physical, social, cognitive and sensory skills in kids of all ages and abilities, according to city officials.
Residents are asked to weigh in on a list of 20 words and phrases to be forever cast in the concrete walkway leading up to Grygutis' artwork. The shortlist is comprised of suggestions made during the playground-naming process and from the artist's concept. The city is asking residents to give input on how well each word or phrase fits for a playground celebrating inclusivity and diversity.
