Excessive Heat Warning Begins Friday For Inland Bay Area
Officials upgraded an excessive heat watch to an excessive heat warning and said it will be in place for three days longer than planned.
BAY AREA, CA — The National Weather Service has upgraded a previously issued excessive heat watch to an excessive heat warning and now says it will be in place from Friday to Wednesday — three days longer than officials previously forecast.
The excessive heat warning is in effect for the inland Bay Area and part of Marin County from 11 a.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Temps are expected to reach 95 to 108 degrees, the NWS wrote earlier this week. The hottest temperatures will likely hit over the weekend, with record highs likely.

"Heat impacts will be considerable this weekend," the NWS said Friday. "Take precautions seriously for sensitive populations."
Coastal and bay-facing areas from Sonoma to Monterey counties are now under a heat advisory. Even so, the NWS forecast "little relief along the coast" due to light breezes and a shallow marine layer.

"For all intents and purposes it will be hot everywhere with little relief until you reach the immediate coast," the NWS said.
Officials warn that residents should be wary of heat exhaustion or heat stroke after spending prolonged time outdoors. People are especially vulnerable if they must spend a lot of time outside, don't have air conditioning, are elderly, are a young child or have chronic ailments, the NWS said.
Call 911 and immediately move to the shade if you are experiencing a heat-related illness.
Drink lots of water, stay out of the sun and stay in air conditioning, the NWS said. Keep an eye on family and neighbors.
