Dublin Protest Shuts Down Streets

Traffic was stopped in all directions as hundreds demonstrated in the wake of George Floyd's death.

DUBLIN, CA — Hundreds of protesters in Dublin took over local streets Monday afternoon, shutting down traffic in all directions in the area of Dublin Boulevard and Dougherty Road, police said.

Protesters began at Emerald Glen Park, chanting, "No justice, no peace," as have demonstrators across the country rallying in the wake of George Floyd's death. Attendees described the demonstration as peaceful.

Floyd, a black man, died after a white Minneapolis police officer placed his knee on Floyd's neck, pinning him down after arresting him following a call reporting suspected forgery at a store. Floyd said he could not breathe and had no pulse when he was taken into an ambulance.
