Stanford, Cal Women's Soccer Returning to San Ramon for Team Breezy

A day of soccer at Dougherty Valley High on April 20, highlighted by a Stanford-Cal women's soccer match, will raise money for the Challenged Athletes Foundation and support families in need who are still living with cancer.

Two women's soccer collegiate powerhouses will play a match in San Ramon for a cause much bigger than soccer later this month.

The 2nd Annual Team Breezy Collegiate Cup is set for Saturday, April 20 at Dougherty Valley High. A day full of soccer will be capped off with a match between Stanford and Cal at 7 p.m.

The event has been organized by friends of Breezy Bochenek, the San Ramon girl who was diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer in 2011.

Since her diagnoses, the community has rallied behind Breezy and the Bochenek family. Last April, Stanford and Cal came to Dougherty Valley High for the first Team Breezy Cup and last fall San Ramon-based nonprofit Special Spaces gave Breezy and her siblings room makeovers.

The proceeds of this year's event will go to the Challenged Athletes Foundation and support families in need who are still living with cancer.

Bochenek will have a chance to participate in this year's event, with the day kicking off at 3 p.m. with soccer activities for able bodied and challenged athletes.

Later in the day, Santa Clara University women's soccer team will face the Bay Area Breeze women's professional team, based out of Dublin, at 5 p.m.

The day of soccer ends with rivals Stanford and Cal taking the pitch.
