Super Bowl 50: Dublin Band Boosters Working Concessions

This smiling group will keep fans fed and quench their thirst while providing local teens with funds to pursue their music passions.

DUBLIN, CA- Many parents have worked in concession stands to help pay for their kids’ activities. Those concession stands are usually located at schools, Little League ballparks and festivals. But the Super Bowl?

A dedicated group of Band Boosters for Dublin High School will spend Super Bowl Sunday in concession stand 4232 at Levis Stadium, next to the Yahoo Sports Zone.

This group typically earns $1,000 - $1,500 per game or event at Levis Stadium, which added up to an impressive $20,000 last year. In addition to working at football games, they’re also in the concession stand for concerts and other events. They hope to make $2,000 at the Super Bowl. If you’re starting to get a bit envious of the volunteers, Music Booster Secretary Holly Erickson says, “We are expecting about a 16 hour day on the 7th.”

But she says that long day is worth it as the volunteers focus on their goal of providing students with “instruments, travel, uniforms, instructor’s fees, event fees, props etc.”

The volunteers will come away some keepsakes, according to Erickson, “We will receive a ’uniform’ to keep, pull-over sweatshirt, hat and pin.”

Michelle Taus, Chairperson of the Concession Committee, is looking forward to the Super Bowl, “We are all very excited to work as it is the only way we will ever get to go. We won’t get to see much but at least we can say we were there.”
