Tri-Valley CHP Officers Honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving
MADD Bay Area hosted its annual Law Enforcement Recognition Awards

At its annual awards luncheon on July 21, 2022, MADD recognized law enforcement officers from throughout the nine Bay Area counties ?for their exceptional efforts in impaired driving prevention and enforcement? in 2021. At the awards, held at the Blackhawk Museum, MADD recognized ten California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Dublin office for their impaired driving enforcement efforts.
The Bay Area's "Top DUI Arresting Officer Award" was presented to CHP Dublin Officer Manvir Singh. Singh's efforts resulted in 89 DUI arrests in 2021, and this is also his third straight year of MADD recognition. He joined the CHP in 2019.
MADD announced the results of its recent online fundraising campaign. CHP Nimitz Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility won first place in the "Trick Shot Challenge." CHP Dublin and CHP Hayward were recognized for second and third place. The fundraising campaign raised $3,500 for MADD.

The "Outstanding Agency Award" was presented to the Dublin CHP office for their DUI enforcement and public affairs efforts in 2021. "We are extremely proud of our officers? ongoing commitment to our community, by ensuring safety through service." CHP said.
According to MADD, drunk driving is still the number one cause of death on our roadways. They say there are 300,000 incidents of drinking and driving a day and 300,000 injuries per year. 10,142 people were killed by drunk drivers in 2019, which is 29 people killed a day or one person every 50 minutes.
