Tri-Valley Race Amity Festival Planned This Weekend

DUBLIN, CA — Alameda County Supervisor David Haubert will host a Race Amity Festival Sunday in Dublin.

Speakers will include Dublin Diversity and Inclusion Alliance, Dublin High Black Student Union, Dublin Inclusion Project, Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program, Hayward/South County NAACP and Nana-Dictta. The Tri-Valley organizations will discuss "fostering friendship and civility in multi-cultural and multi-racial communities," Haubert's office announced.

"This Race Amity Festival is about all races, nationalities, and communities coming together to support and appreciate each other," said Haubert, who represents Dublin, Fremont, Livermore and Sunol. "Our common goal is to focus deeply on internal culture and to put our efforts and energy in the understanding race for our nation."

The event will take place at the outdoor amphitheater of Dublin's Emerald Glen Park from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The festival was inspired by the first-of-its-kind Race Amity Day Bill passed by the Massachusetts legislature in 2015 "to encourage friendship, collegiality, civility, respect and kindness" and recognize the diverse individuals who make up the state.
