DUBLIN, CA — Sixteen Dublin households faced off this year in a "Deck the Homes" competition to spread the most holiday cheer through elaborate lawn displays, twinkling lights and inflatable snowmen.

Prize-winning decorators used glowing peppermint candies and candy canes, fake snow, misfit toys, nutcrackers, shimmering snowflakes and a California-cool Santa donning sunglasses. There were lights of all colors and kinds, including string light reindeer, animated light displays, light-up wreaths and string lights that hung from rooftops like icicles.

Six awards were given out: Best Use of Lights, Best Lawn Display, Best Holiday Theme, Best Overall, Best Apartment/Condo and Best Neighborhoods. You can scroll through the gallery above to see photos of the winners.
