1,000-Pound Metal Hammer Stolen From Healdsburg Community Center

Police are trying to nail down the thieves.

HEALDSBURG, CA -- A 1,000-pound metal hammer that was a part of Healdsburg's temporary art installation was stolen recently, police said. Police said the art piece, which was on display at the city's Community Center, was stolen on either Friday night or Saturday morning.

The suspects dragged the hammer and the base it was attached to across a parking lot and likely put it onto a truck. The height of the art exhibit by Doug Unkrey was 6 feet, police said.

The art installation, valued at $15,000, was on loan from the Voigt Family Sculpture Foundation, police said.
