Cache Creek Dam Opens to Prep for Onslaught of Rain, Clear Lake Nearly Full

As the next El Nino storm heads through, water controllers are making space for the expected seven inches of water.

CLEAR LAKE, CA- As Clear Lake reaches near capacity, Cache Creek Dam was opened Wednesday morning to begin releasing water to prepare for the expected storms weekend.

According to reports by the Lake County News, The California-Nevada River Forecast Center expects Clear Lake to reach its full level with the seven inches of rain expected to come with the storm this weekend.

Reports say the limited flow capacity of the Cache Creek Outlet Channel can only reduce Clear Lake’s capacity by approximately an inch and a half per day, so early releases are expected to reduce the potential for flooding, however, they will be gradual and monitored.
