City Of Healdsburg Says Flooding Possible, Opens Sandbag Station

"There is a possibility of flooding in low-lying areas in Healdsburg that have historically been prone to flooding," city officials said.

HEALDSBURG, CA — The city of Healdsburg in a weather alert Wednesday afternoon said a self-fill sandbag station is available to residents in light of a coastal flood advisory for both coastal and inland North Bay.

"There is a possibility of flooding in low-lying areas in Healdsburg that have historically been prone to flooding," city officials said.

The self-fill sandbag station is located at the Community Center, 1557 Healdsburg Ave., and is open 24 hours for residents who would like to protect their property, city officials said.

The National Weather Service coastal flood advisory continues through 8 a.m. Thursday.

"City staff is closely monitoring conditions and will continue to do so through the night," city officials said. "We will notify the community here if flooding becomes likely."

Coastal North Bay Including Point Reyes National Seashore-North Bay Interior Valleys-San Francisco Bay Shoreline...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 8 AM PST THURSDAY...
* COASTAL FLOODING...Low-lying areas along the immediate coast, bay front, marshes and sloughs can experience minor flooding. These locations may also include parking lots, coastal trails, sidewalks and even roadways that are not ordinarily impacted by the water.
* TIMING...High tide will occur on Thursday morning, generally between 4 AM and 8 AM PST. The exact height and timing of these tides will vary by location. Please visit https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.... for location specific tidal predictions.
* IMPACTS...Sea water and runoff on roadways, parking lots, trails and sidewalks including, but not limited to: The Embarcadero, Vicinity of Mill Valley Park and Ride, Bay Shoreline Rec Trail,
and Shoreline Hwy along the coast.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
