Coroner Identifies Woman Who Died In US 101 Crash In Healdsburg

The woman was riding in a car with her son and grandson when the car veered onto the shoulder and hit a guardrail, the CHP said.

HEALDSBURG, CA — A grandmother who died Saturday in a crash on U.S. Highway 101 in Healdsburg was identified Monday by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office as 77-year-old Santa Rosa resident Lilavatiben Patel.

Shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol officers were sent to a crash along southbound US 101, south of Central Healdsburg, CHP Officer David deRutte said.

The CHP's preliminary investigation indicated Patel's 40-year-old son was driving an Acura MDX southbound on US 101 when for unknown reasons, the SUV veered to the right onto the shoulder and collided with a guardrail.

Patel was sitting in the right front seat.

"Unfortunately, she passed away at the scene as a result of the collision," deRutte said.

"At this time, we do not believe DUI was a factor in this collision."

The CHP asked anyone who witnessed the crash or the events leading up to it to call the Santa Rosa CHP Office at 707-588-1400.
