Earthquake Strikes Near Kincade Fire Perimeter Saturday
The earthquake struck about three miles northwest of The Geysers.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck near The Geysers in Sonoma County Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake, centered near the northern perimeter of the Kincade Fire, struck at 7:05 a.m. about a mile deep. The fire has been burning for nine days and has scorched nearly 78,000 acres and is 72 percent contained. Hundreds of homes and other structures have been destroyed in the blaze.
According to the geological survey's self-reporting feature, residents from nearby communities reported feeling the quake.
