1 Killed In Crash Off US 101 Near Cloverdale
Coroner's officials have identified a man who became trapped and died when a car went off the roadway, flipped and landed in a vineyard.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Santa Rosa man died Thursday morning when a car veered off U.S. Highway 101, flipped and landed in a vineyard, the California Highway Patrol and Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office said. The car's driver, a 25-year-old man also of Santa Rosa, suffered minor injuries.
The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has since identified the man killed in the crash as 32-year-old Guillermo Garcia.
Garcia was in riding in the front passenger seat of a blue Toyota Corolla in the crash reported around 6 a.m. north of Asti Road near Cloverdale. The Corolla was in the left lane of northbound U.S. 101 when — for unclear reasons — the driver abruptly turned to the right, CHP Officer David deRutte told members of the media.

The Corolla left the roadway, went more than 150 feet along the right shoulder, and then overturned and landed on its roof in a vineyard, said deRutte, spokesman for the Santa Rosa Area CHP office.
Garcia became trapped in the vehicle. He died at the scene.

The driver was taken to Healdsburg District Hospital.
