Four Detained in Connection to Auto Burglary in Windsor

Four suspects were detained in connection with an auto burglary in Windsor early Thursday morning, according to sheriff's deputies.

At about 4 a.m., the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle collision and an altercation in the vicinity of Eastside and Windsor River roads.

The caller reported that he had detained five suspects in a crashed vehicle. The caller said he had caught them burglarizing his vehicle while it was parked in front of his home.

According to deputies, the suspects stole the victim's gun, which was secured in a locked case, from his vehicle. The victim then pursued the suspects by car.

The suspect vehicle smashed into a tree and came to a stop, deputies said. When deputies arrived, only four suspects were located. The fifth suspect is believed to have fled the scene.

Three of the occupants of the suspect vehicle were juveniles and their names are not being released.

Each of the occupants in the car that were injured in the crash and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, according to deputies.

The fourth suspect, identified as 18-year-old Hugo Garcia, of Windsor, sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene of the collision.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail for possession of stolen property and conspiracy, with bail set at $5,000, deputies said.

The suspect vehicle was a green 1994 Honda Accord containing numerous items suspected of being stolen.

According to deputies, detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and locating other possible victims of theft.

Detectives are also attempting to locate the suspect who is believed to have fled the scene after the vehicle collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Windsor Police Department at (707) 838-1234.
