Healdsburg Arrest Made In Connection To Citizen, Officer Assault

A woman was arrested on suspicion of throwing hot coffee on a cafe worker and punching a police officer in the face in Healdsburg.

HEALDSBURG, CA — A woman was arrested Saturday after police said she threw hot coffee on a Lola's Market employee and later assaulted an officer, officials said.

Police said Amy Elizabeth Lewis, 38, walked into Lola's Market and demanded free food.

"The female quickly became irate after not immediately getting free food and threw a cup of hot coffee at an employee of Lola’s causing minor injuries," police wrote in a Monday news release on Facebook.

Soon after, officers were dispatched to a second restaurant, The Wurst, on Matheson Street. The vicitim who had the coffee thrown on him reportedly followed the suspect there.

"While one officer spoke with the victim, another officer tried to speak with the suspect about what happened," police wrote.

But Lewis reportedly refused to cooperate with the officer and attempted to walk away from the area.

"The officer walked after the suspect, who suddenly and without warning, turned around and struck the officer in the face with a backpack she was holding," police said.

The suspect began punching the officer multiple times, striking the officer in the face. Another officer, along with the hot coffee victim, ran over to restrain the suspect, who was taken into custody shortly after.

Lewis was taken into custody with "minimal force" and transported to the Sonoma County Jail. She was booked on felony and misdemeanor charges of battery and obstructing an officer with violence.

Both the officer and the vicitim had minor injuries while Lewis was unharmed, police reported.
