Healdsburg Residents In Distress Can Call New 988 Suicide Hotline
This new, shorter phone number will make it easier for people to remember and access mental health crisis services.
HEALDSBURG, CA — Effective July 16, Healdsburg residents in distress can call 988, a 24-7 suicide prevention hotline designed to be easy to remember, like 911.
Dialing 988 will connect callers to trained mental health professionals at over 200 crisis centers, and is available from landlines or cell phones by call or text. The old 10-digit hotline, 1-800-273-TALK, remains available. Online chat support is also available at 988lifeline.org.
The federal government has provided over $280 million to help states add to existing systems after former President Donald Trump signed the 988 bill into law in Oct. 2020.
