Heat Wave Forecast Labor Day Weekend In Healdsburg

Triple-digit temperatures, some as high as 105 degrees, are forecast throughout the Bay Area region, including in Healdsburg.

HEALDSBURG, CA — Planning outdoor festivities this Labor Day weekend? Depending on where you live in the Bay Area, you might want to rethink those plans, as the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch.

The watch is in place from 11 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Monday, according to the NWS. Hot and dry conditions are in the forecast as high pressure builds over the Bay Area.

The excessive heat watch applies to the North Bay interior valleys, North Bay mountains, East Bay interior valleys, East Bay hills and the Diablo Range, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Clara Valley including San Jose, Southern Salinas Valley/Arroyo Seco and Lake San Antonio, Santa Lucia Mountains and Los Padres National Forest, the mountains of San Benito County and interior Monterey County, including Pinnacles National Park.

Some of the cities within the watch area include: Santa Rosa, South Santa Rosa, Napa, San Rafael, Petaluma, Novato, Rohnert Park, Angwin, Lagunitas-Forest Knolls, Woodacre, Concord, Antioch, Livermore, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, Pittsburg, San Ramon, Blackhawk, Scotts Valley, Boulder Creek, Day Valley, San Jose, Greenfield and King City.

Interior parts of the region could see temperatures as high as 105 degrees, while much of the Bay Area will likely stay between 85 to 95 degrees, the NWS forecast said. Coastal areas should see temperatures from 65 to 80 degrees.

In Healdsburg, a high temperature near 96 degrees is forecast Saturday, a high near 101 is likely Sunday, and a high around 100 is expected Monday.

Officials warn that residents should be wary of heat exhaustion or heat stroke after spending prolonged time outdoors. People are especially vulnerable if they must spend a lot of time outside, don't have air conditioning, are elderly, are a young child or have chronic ailments, the NWS wrote.

Call 911 and immediately move to the shade if you are experiencing a heat-related illness.

Drink lots of water, stay out of the sun and stay in air conditioning, the NWS said. Also keep an eye on family and neighbors.
