HEALDSBURG, CA — A woman and her dog were displaced by a fire that caused major damage to their single-story home in Healdsburg Tuesday evening, Fire Chief Jason Boaz said. The fire on Sherman Street was reported by neighbors at 7:45 p.m. It started on the back deck and spread to the interior of the home.

The Healdsburg Fire Department was holding drills at its fire station at the time and responded quickly by sending four engines, Boaz said.

Firefighters called a second alarm because of vegetation at the home and the threat to homes nearby, Boaz said.
