Native American Spring Celebration Returns To SRJC

Make a day of it! Also planned a fashion show and plant sale. Great opportunity to stock up on houseplants, succulents and summer veggies!

SANTA ROSA, CA – Circle the date!

The popular Native American Spring Celebration, students' annual fashion show and a plant sale are all planned Sunday, May 6, with free admission and free parking at the Santa Rosa campus of Santa Rosa Junior College.

Local tribes will share cultural practices and traditions with Sonoma County friends and family at the Native American event set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can enjoy dance performances and cultural demonstrations, learn about local indigenous cultures at indigenous information booths and purchase food and art from vendors, SRJC organizers said.

The Fashion Studies department will produce its annual fashion show at 12 p.m. at the Wilson & Ruth P. Craig Dining Commons, on the first floor of the Lawrence A. Bertolini Student Center.

SRJC's horticulture students also will hold a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., selling a variety of summer vegetables and ornamental plants for gardens and patios, along with a great selection of succulents and houseplants. The sale will be held by the greenhouse, which is in Lark Hall.

Also that day, the Jesse Peter Multicultural Museum will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m, and it currently features a historical exhibit of the museum from the early 1930s to the present.

The Santa Rosa campus is at 1501 Mendocino Ave. in Santa Rosa.
