New Healdsburg High School Principal Chosen

HEALDSBURG, CA -- The Healdsburg Unified School District is pleased to announce the selection of Mr. Bill Halliday as the Principal of Healdsburg High School.

Mr. Halliday has distinguished himself as an exceptional educational leader in our community for the last six years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Recreational Administration with an emphasis in Experiential Education from Humboldt State University and teaching credentials in Social Studies and Alternative Education. A certified white water rafting guide, he began his career as an outdoor educator, teaching leadership and character through wilderness and adventure experiences. He has been an instructor in both traditional and alternative high school settings, teaching a variety of courses from GED prep to International Baccalaureate's Theory of Knowledge. He spent six years as high school administrator in Cotati-Rohnert Park Schools in a variety of roles. He then moved his family to England for four years, where he was the Principal of the ACS Hillingdon International School, an international baccalaureate program in Hillingdon, United Kingdom. Finally, in 2011, he began working in Healdsburg, where he has served in numerous capacities, most recently as our Junior High Principal.

Mr. Halliday has been an instrumental agent of positive change in our schools. He collaborated with the HJH staff to introduce a variety of new opportunities for students, including enrichment courses such as Robotics and Agricultural Science as well as foundational programs such as Accelerated English. Furthermore, HJH has become a model of strong community through the valuable Team HJH program that builds unity amongst the student body. Finally, he is known for being student-centered. He genuinely knows his students and their needs while exercising a strong rapport with each of them. This embodiment of our District goal of having every student in our schools be well known is one of the defining characteristics of his leadership.

We are very excited to have such a visionary and strong student advocate as the new Principal for Healdsburg High School. Mr. Halliday will continue his work as HJH Principal for the remainder of this school year. Please join me in welcoming Bill Halliday to his new position at Healdsburg High School!
