Pedestrian Hit, Killed On U.S. Highway 101 Near Healdsburg

The driver —​ a 16-year-old female —​ turned to the right but was unable to avoid the collision, the California Highway Patrol said.

HEALDSBURG, CA — A man standing on southbound U.S. Highway 101 just south of Healdsburg was struck and killed by a vehicle early Saturday morning.

The California Highway Patrol reports that at about 12:04 a.m. the man was standing in the left lane of southbound U.S. 101 when a Jeep Cherokee traveling at the speed limit approached him.

The driver — a 16-year-old female — turned to the right but was unable to avoid the collision. She pulled over immediately to the right shoulder and called 911.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP has not released the names of the driver or the victim.

The driver and her two passengers, ages 21 and 26, sustained no injuries.
