Person Killed in Fiery Crash on Hwy. 1 at Stewarts Point
A driver reportedly lost control of a red sports car that overturned, catching fire. Bystanders were unable to pull the person out.

At least one person was killed in a fiery car crash on state Highway 1 in the unincorporated Sonoma County area of Stewarts Point, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Around 11:05 a.m., the driver of a red sports car along Highway 1 near Stewarts Point-Skaggs Springs Road lost control and overturned, and the car caught on fire, according to the CHP. Passersby attempted to free someone from the car but were unable to pull the person out. Emergency responders pronounced the person dead at the scene. The collision prompted the CHP to issue a Sig-alert, and both directions of Highway 1 were closed from Skaggs Springs Road to Kruse Ranch Road, according to the CHP.
The highway was reopened in both directions shortly before 5:30 p.m. The fire damaged a portion of asphalt that required repairs, a CHP officer said.
