The Sonoma County coroner’s office has identified the driver who died Sunday morning in a solo vehicle crash near Windsor as 25-year-old Caleb James Rummonds of Forestville.
Rummonds was driving a Ford Escape south on Eastside Road just south of Windsor River Road when he drove off the left side of the road into a ditch and hit a tree, Windsor Fire Protection District Acting Battalion Chief Mike Elson said. The Ford then re-entered the road and blocked both lanes of Eastside Road, trapping Rummonds inside, Elson said.
The Ford sustained major damage.
