Sonoma County Reports 3rd Coronavirus Death

BREAKING: News of the coronavirus-related death comes as the county announced two new testing sites.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Sonoma County on Sunday reported its third coronavirus-related death. Sonoma County Health Services spokesman Rohish Lal said the death was an older man, but told Bay City News Service no further information would be released.

As of 7:45 p.m. Sunday, there were 257 total cases of COVID-19 — the disease caused by the virus— in Sonoma County. The county has conducted 6,468 tests, and 96 percent of the tests were negative for the virus.

Twenty-two of the cases are in the North County area, which encompasses Windsor, Healdsburg and Cloverdale; while 39 are in the South County area of Penngrove and Petaluma; 19 are in the East County area of Kenwood, Glen Ellen and Sonoma; 17 are in the West County of Sebastopol and Guerneville; and 160 are in the most-populated Central County area of Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park and Cotati.

News of the county's third death related to the virus came Sunday as the county also announced two new testing sites were opening Tuesday: one in Petaluma and one in Santa Rosa. The locations of the sites are provided when residents make an appointment.
